Introduction to New Media Art

Course Description:

The aim of this course is to introduce a technical & conceptual foundation for new media processes and develop artistic practices.

The student who successfully completes this course should be able to identify and/or demonstrate through visual means:

familiarity with the application of principals fundamental to media processes;
master the basic principals of the various technical processes introduced;
introduction of the fundamental aesthetic and conceptual issues of various new media as an artist’s medium, with emphasis on contemporary practices and contexts;
begin the development of a personal aesthetic and conceptual position within the context of new media;
enhance critical and analytical thinking in the interpretation and discussion of artworks.
