Fundamentals of Digital Imaging

Course Description:

This course will introduce you to fundamental techniques, concepts and strategies for working with various media on a digital workstation. You will learn to create and manipulate digital images (using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator), work with motion and time (using Flash and Final Cut Express), and prepare/organize your work for print, screen and web delivery (using Adobe InDesign, Acrobat Pro and Dreamweaver). These programs are ubiquitously used across studio practices and disciplines, and will empower you to create, support and promote your work.

Objectives:

The student who successfully completes this course should be able to identify and/or demonstrate through visual means:

  • familiarity with programs in the Adobe Creative Suite, knowing when each might be the appropriate choice for a given project;
  • knowledge of the basic tools used in each of the programs;
  • an understanding of the issues of resolution and color space in regards to both print and web-based presentation.
